Your Mental Health in a Digital Age: What Does Jesus Think?
There is so much current research making a direct connection between the amount of time people spend online, especially consuming social media, and our present mental health crisis. In short, it shows how the hours people spend in isolation trying to live life through their phones deprives them of so many essential elements of what it means to be human. We simply weren’t made to live online.
But how can we avoid the reality of living in a digital age? In a world where smartphones have become virtually indispensable, is it realistic to think we can simply do away with them? The fact is that we live in a smart-phone age that we can’t escape. And this means we must continue to live in the world without being conformed to it. (cf. Romans 12:2)
So, in this episode, Scott and Shawn consider how Jesus would think about life in a digital age. Looking to Jesus as our example, they uncover some important insights from the Bible’s Grand Story concerning the danger and impact of doing life online. And in light of God’s ultimate purpose for us, they discuss some ways we may need to change our digital habits.
