Today, self-care is seen as a necessary part of life. Over the past several decades researchers have raised the alarm over increasing levels of stress, depression, and anxiety throughout society. Among younger generations, Gen Z in particular is showing the lowest levels of mental health wellness of all demographic groups today. It’s little wonder then that the importance and interest in self-care occupies much of our cultural consciousness.

But how can young Christians learn to reconcile a culture that prizes “self-care” while following a Saviour who calls them to “lose their life” for the sake of his kingdom? This raises the question — what constitutes “good self-care” practices vs. “bad self-care” practices?

In today’s podcast episode, Scott and Shawn use the “think like Jesus framework” to consider how Jesus would think about self-care. Listen in as they discover some vital truths that can help Christians discern the difference that will keep “self-care” from becoming “self-ish care”.
