A Christian Response to MAiD

Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) has been attracting a lot of attention in headlines and social dialogue. Much of the attention comes from the continuing move by government and legislators to expand the list of those who are eligible to receive MAiD—particularly to those suffering from mental illnesses.

The vast majority in Canada are in favour of making MAiD accessible to those who want it. For some it’s seen as a human rights issue. For many it’s out of genuine concern for the suffering people face. But for all it’s good intentions, is MAiD truly providing the solution to suffering that people need?

In this episode, Scott and Shawn look at MAiD from the Christian’s perspective in order to understand the key issues at stake, as well as to think through how the church of Jesus should respond, both in terms of personal posture toward MAiD, but also for the sake of speaking truth into our culture.
