Jesus’ invitation to life with God found through him is open and free to anyone who would receive it. It is a gift whose only requirement is that it be received. It’s that simple.

But, while finding life in Jesus is simple, living life in Jesus isn’t easy. Not because Jesus makes it hard, but because living in Jesus means dying to everything in the world that kept us in bondage to sin and separated from God. And that is pretty much everything.

In the plainest terms possible, Jesus described the cost of becoming his follower. And in his own words, Jesus put it like this:

“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” (Matthew 16:24)

In this episode, Scott and Shawn take a deep dive into Jesus’ hard teaching on what it really means to be his follower. Listen in on one of the most difficult but important lessons that Jesus ever taught.

After listening to your podcast, I don't feel very confident about going to heaven, nor will many of us. I feel very discouraged.

I'm sorry to hear that Gerri. Our aim certainly wasn't to discourage, but Jesus' words do often confront us in ways that are unsettling. I'd be happy to dialogue with you about this more if you like, but recommend doing so through email rather than here. If you'd like to contact me through the "Contact Us" form in the left column I'll keep my eyes open for it. God bless! - Scott
