While many helpful tools and techniques are available today to help people foster good mental health, it seems much of the language around such tools focuses on the importance of self-esteem. As Dr. David D. Burns wrote in his best selling book Feeling Good, “At the bottom line, only your own sense of self-worth determines how you feel.” (p. 77) But is self-esteem really the place to ground our mental health?
