Understanding Gender Identity

As our culture continues to dissolve male / female gender categories, Christians find it increasingly difficult to find answers that are certain.  Can a person really change genders?  Is it possible that some people are born in the wrong gendered bodies?  What is it that ultimately determines our gender?  Does the Bible even speak to these 21st century issues in a way that can not only bring clarity, but help us respond in both truth and love to those caught up in the cultural confusion?  Understanding Gender Identity is a talk presented by Scott Stein that provides answers to these and other questions by looking at the relevant materials from science, psychology, and most importantly God’s truth revealed in the Bible.

Format: This talk can be delivered in a 1 to 1 1/2 hour session, or two 30 – 40 minute sessions.  Contact Scott to bring Understanding Gender Identity to your church, Sunday school or other group setting.

Our culture’s re-conception of gender has become a living reality within a single generation, in most cases catching Christians off guard and uncertain as how to respond.  A Christian Response to Gender Identity is a talk presented by Scott Stein that is designed to help Christians and churches develop an informed and compassionate response to those who struggle with gender identification issues by answering questions like: What does it mean to be ‘transgendered’?  What causes transgenderism?  What pressures and concerns does the transgendered person face?  What does the Bible have to say about it? As Christians, how do we help the transgendered person place their experience in an appropriate context of meaning?  By learning to answer these questions our goal is for Christians and the church of Jesus Christ to become confident in responding to gender identity issues with compassion and truth.
